“My name is Carlos, I came to the United States when I was 19 years old, just when I graduated from high school. I lived with my parents and grandparents in the same house in Patulul, Suchitepequez. Knowing that in Guatemala I had no opportunity to get ahead, I decided to come to the United States, taking advantage of the fact that my aunt lived here. I still have my parents, to whom one day I promised to give them a proper and dignified place to live, thanks to my work I was able to fulfill that dream and although I have not seen them in 18 years they always I have in my mind and heart. As a Guatemalan I have not lost the customs that instilled in me since I was little, today I have a son who was born outside of Guatemala and together with my wife we are excited to present him to the family, it is impossible for us to travel to our country for the immigration situation that we have, for the same reason we decided that my son be baptized in Guatemala, my niece will be in charge of taking him and presenting him, I am excited that this moment will come soon, if I do not have the opportunity If my little son can hug my parents, I want to plant in him the importance of my family in our lives. One of my greatest hopes is to return to Guatemala and be able to enjoy my family, my parents. “
